WORDS FROM OUR STUDENTS

Why our students love online

Luchelle Schutte My favourite part of online learning is that I can go anywhere with my laptop and still be able to do my studies. Because of the excellent design of UJ's online BCom in Accounting, I can balance working full-time, studying and still caring for my family. The course material was designed to gradually become more difficult as you progress, with the focus of helping you to understand it before moving to the next portion of work. The support is fantastic, I've never heard of a University calling its students to find out how their studies are going, until seeing and experiencing it myself at UJ. Email queries are responded to within a day or two. The staff is friendly and helpful. No matter what your issue is - they will go the extra mile to assist you. I've even had staff phone me back to follow up. It's unbelievable. Noxolo Nekhwevha Online study is very convenient and saves time, the technological exposure is fantastic, and the use of software to work in innovative and effective ways. Keneilwe Moroe I enjoy the advanced and developed technology they use. The course is very informative and advanced but there are sometimes lots of tasks to do in a short space of time. The support from lecturers was overwhelming, they wouldn't leave a student unattended if there were queries or misunderstandings. Their commitment towards their work is fulfilling, even the moderators/markers and all the support staff. I also need to applaud the students themselves who always encouraged each other to persevere. SW Malan For me, online learning was life-changing as I suffer from low vision, which means I do not have to sit in classes where I cannot make out what's written on the board or projected. Also, the way the course is structured is brilliant. The material is relevant and engaging, I love it! The administrative staff is very friendly and helpful, and lecturers and tutors are good at what they do, they respond to emails and are very helpful in explaining difficult concepts. I'm very happy to study with UJ. Elizka Oelofse The thing I have enjoyed most about online learning is the flexibility it offers me. Kamohelo Leqele I love the flexibility. I have a full-time job and having to manage my time to complete my studies is so stress-relieving. The accessibility to the lecturer and study materials is to my advantage as I never miss a class or a chapter. The course is of high quality and I am already applying what I have studied in my daily work life, I can see the improvements in my work life. The support is great, I couldn’t submit a task because of personal reasons I had throughout the week. I emailed the lecturer, and the level of support was good. Martin van Wyk The flexibility to work on it when my schedule allows. The Blackboard application is also powerful and manages the content well and we still have enough opportunities for collaboration. The course material was excellent across all of the modules I studied. The combination of reading and videos created an interesting multimedia experience. Andrew Leshowe Module 1, I thought I was going to struggle with my studies but I was lying to myself. Everything went well and was simple. The course material was straight to the point and you don't need other materials for information. Our Lectures are very supportive and that's the reason why most of us have passed. Juwairiyyah Cassim I like the flexible working times, and the content was challenging but understandable. The support has been excellent and helpful. Ncamie Zabe I love doing the work and assignments at a time convenient to me depending on my working schedule but minding the deadline. Also the week of rest in between the modules is really rewarding and gives one time to recharge. The course material was available within the chapters and mostly was reliable and on point.
