Knitting Group

Come join us at CCM Forest Hills for a weekly social hour for older adults! We’ll meet weekly on Thursdays from 2 to 3 p.m. and enjoy coffee and tea while chatting with neighbors and friends.

Do you enjoy stimulating conversation? Join us once a month as we gather together to discuss interesting topics and share ideas. Conversation salons are face-to-face discussions among people who are interested in sharing thoughts, information and opinions about the meaningful events of our own experiences, our community and the world at large.
Clutterers Anonymous
Clutterers Anonymous is a 12 Step Fellowship of individuals who share their experience, strength, and hope with each other, that they may solve their common problem with clutter and help each other to recover. The only requirement for membership is a desire to stop cluttering. Please join us — we meet in a supportive judgment free zone.

Book Clubs
C.C. Mellor is home to three book clubs, each with their own theme and meeting location. There are no requirements to join any group, but you can contact the facilitator for more information on each group. If you need help acquiring the book for any group, ask a staff member at any branch, and they’ll help you order one to your preferred pickup location.
Drop Dead Book Club

Since 2003, the Drop Dead Book Club has read a mystery every month. The atmosphere is informal. The group has a facilitator/record keeper but not a discussion leader. Books are chosen by consensus.

Zentangle Beginners Class

Zentangle® is a simple technique for pattern drawing that is relaxing, meditative, intriguing and FUN! If you can print the alphabet, you can do Zentangle—just 5 easy strokes! You will amaze yourself. Excite your creativity!
Sue Schneider has been teaching Zentangle locally and internationally for more than ten years. An award-winning artist, she has exhibited her work in a variety of venues. Her art graces corporate and personal collections.

Ukrainian Egg Decorating Demonstration
Monday, March 11, 6 – 7:30 p.m.
In this demo, Marilan complete one egg, start to finish, while lecturing on the tools, techniques and history of the art. The completed egg is awarded to an audience member by random raffle. Dozens of beautifully eggs are on display during the demonstration.
For 50+ years, Marilan has presented demonstrations and taught hands-on classes in the art of “Pysanky” at Community College, community centers, libraries, and numerous senior residences. Her passion is to share this traditional folk art and its rich history with new audiences.
Solar Observation
Thursday, March 21, 6 – 7 p.m.
An introduction to solar features visible on our nearest star, the Sun, and safe solar observing techniques, using both white-light and H-alpha solar filters. Additionally, we’ll discuss where to go and how to observe the upcoming April 8th, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse.
South Hills resident Larry McHenry has been active in amateur astronomy for over 40 years, and is a member of the Kiski Astronomers, and the Oil Region Astronomical Society (ORAS) in Western Pennsylvania. One of Larry’s favorite astronomical activities is safely observing the Sun.

This free educational class will cover how and when to enroll, working past 65 and delaying Part B, what Medicare does & does not cover, your expected costs, Supplemental versus Advantage insurance, Rx drugs and the donut hole.
