A peek at our week: Letter F Activities for Preschool (2)

We had a lot of fun with letterF! With grandparents in town at the end of the week, we didn’t get to as many activities as I’d have liked. But we were able to squeeze in some activities even as I spent several days cleaning the house and preparing for our guests.

(Update: I published this post years ago when my children were young. Now that I have more time, I’ve created a done-for-you alphabet curriculum perfect for preschool!)

Letter F Activities

I always start the week reading our printable books for each letter. We read my Little Letter F book of rhymes and songs, plus our letter book with photographs.

My Three was tired of using office stickers for my dot pages, so this week we changed it up and used Do a Dot markers on our F is for Fish page.

My Three asked several times this week if he could do a “pwoject.” I confess that with all the preparation for my in-laws’ arrival, I just didn’t have the time or desire to do a lot of messy activities. But he was thrilled to make this paper plate fish. He painted the plate all by himself while I was making dinner. I was very surprisedthat he had the patience to do the whole thing! We did the rest of the fish after the paint had dried. Check out the rest of our letter F craft ideas.

These fish bubble counting mats were a big hit! I got out some clearglass gems, and he counted the bubbles as he covered them with gems. Such a fun learning activity!

For our sensory play activity, I put some dried beans and rice in a bin and pulled out our Schleichtoy animals. I held up an animal, and he told me whether or not it was a farm animal. If it was a farm animal, it got a place in our farm in a box. I was pleased by how well he did with this, especially since it wasn’t long ago that he was mixing up raccoons and kangaroos!

We always like to bring it back to the whole alphabet! This week we did this puzzle find activity from I Can Teach My Child. This kept him busy for a long time!

Finally, welove to read books that feature our letter of the week. Here are some of our favorites for Letter F, with The Birthday Fish getting my personal vote for the best book! You can see many more books for letter F in our letter of the week book list.
